March 6, 2022 - Yard Birds
Read MoreWe again stayed on St. George Island, Florida, for two months this winter. Here are the birds I photographed at the house we rented.
I put out some seed to attract birds to the yard. This male Northern Cardinal was the only bird who consistently ate the seed. Other birds showed up, but they didn’t seem interested in feeding.CardinalNorthernmaleAbbeyfealeThePlantationGeorgeIsland20220223
This female Northern Cardinal accompanied the male several times so I’m assuming they are a mated pair. However, she didn’t seem interested in eating any seed.

Here’s a Northern Mockingbird that did eat some seed a couple of times. Most of the time it was a bully, chasing the other birds away.

Eastern Towhees were heard calling from several places in the neighborhood. They are secretive birds and mostly stayed hidden, but a pair of them eventually came out in the open. Here’s the female.
