Dec. 18, 2022 - Australia Flowers - Part 2
Read MoreHere’s a second set of flower photos taken on my trip to Australia. Let’s start with one I can identify. It’s a Bottle Brush flower. This photo was taken at the Cattana Wetlands Pak in Queensland. We saw this flower many places on the trip, and it was always very popular with the birds. Honeyeaters seemed to especially like it.
I haven’t Identified the next several flowers, but I am putting out inquiries to the iNaturalist app and hope to get some answers there. If you know what they are, please add a comment below or send me an email at earlorf@uslink.net. This orange flower was seen at the Durikai Water Hole in Queensland. The leaves remind me of the needles on a Balsam Fir here in Minnesota.
This one reminds me of a plant we have here in Minnesota called Blue Vervain. It appears to open just a few flowers at a time. That would insure that the flowers are exposed for an extended period and would make pollination more likely. This photo was taken at Lake Morris Road in Dinden National Park located in Mareeba, Queensland.
I like this photo of the morning dew on a pretty white flower. The fringes make me think it might be some kind of an orchid. It was photographed at O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat in Lamington National Park, Queensland.
