Nov. 14, 2021 - Frosty Morning

Here in northern Minnesota, we are starting to see our low temperatures dip below the freezing mark. One day last week, that produced some beautiful frosty patterns on the roadside vegetation. This fern was just covered by frost.

Each frond in this group of ferns is edged with frost.

The colorful tree leaves on the ground also had a frosty border.

Frost formed on the outside of these seed heads. Also notice the wispy threads clinging to the plants. They appear to be from Milkweed seeds that were blown around and stuck to the seed heads.

This looks like a Purple Clover flower that has retained some of its color

The line of frost that formed on the top side of this tree branch adds to the beauty of the colorful lichens.
