March 15, 2020 - St. George Island Beach Scenes

We’re back in Minnesota after spending January and February on St. George Island, FL. Here are some beach scenes from that trip.

One morning I saw a beautiful sunrise and took a few photos near the house we were renting.

There are many large shells on the beach. The side of the shell with sand piled up next to it indicates from which direction the wind has been blowing.

Here’s a panoramic view of the beach on the Gulf of Mexico side. Notice the “snow fence” on the left side of the photo. That’s used to trap the blowing sand and build up the sand dunes.

One-third of the island is a state park. In one of the bays at the park there was a large group of Ghost Crabs.

This is one of the jellyfish that occasionally wash up on the beach.

Two of the houses on the beach provided a nice frame for the sunrise I mentioned above.
