Sept. 22, 2019 - North Shore - Fall Colors

We’re back from our annual trip to the North Shore of Lake Superior. We try to time our visit so that we see the fall colors at their peak. This year, the colors seemed especially vivid. This is one of the beautiful views along the Honeymoon Trail.

The Honeymoon Trail is about 10 miles inland from the shore of Lake Superior. It runs through a forest that is mostly Maple trees. Right now, their leaves are producing the brilliant yellow, orange, and red that we associate with fall colors.

Lax Lake Road is another place where we found some boldly colored Maple trees.

Also, along Lax Lake Road, I found this colorful little Maple tree standing out from the evergreen trees behind it.

As we drove up the Sawbill Trail, I glanced in my rear-view mirror and saw a flaming red distant ridge framed by evergreen trees. I just had to stop and take a photo of it.
