Brown Pelicans are quite common on the north Florida Gulf Coast. This one is resting on the huge rocks that line both sides of Sikes Cut here on St. George Island.
Most of the time Brown Pelicans feed by flying over the water, then diving in when they see a fish below. This one was swimming in the choppy water next to the Sikes Cut rocks and just reaching into the water to catch its dinner.
Success! It appears that a fish has been caught. You can see it protruding out the side of the pouch. There is also a small part of the fish sticking up above the lower part of the bill.
