April 21, 2019 - Florida Flowers

During our January-February stay in Florida, we enjoyed many blooming flowers. Meanwhile, back home in Minnesota, snow covered the ground and flowers would not be seen outdoors for several more months. These blooms were from an Azalea bush at Wakulla Springs State Park.

Redbud is a flowering tree and the flowers appear even before the leaves. Notice a few leaves just beginning to sprout from the ends of the branches. We saw flowering Redbuds many places, but this photo was taken at Wakulla Springs Park.

I was birding with my friend, John Murphy, at Tall Timbers Research Station in Tallahassee, Florida, when we saw these small yellow flowers. John told me they are Carolina Jasmine, an early blooming plant.

This Spiderwort flower was seen while John and I were birding at Lake Henrietta in Tallahassee.
