Everywhere we went in Costa Rica, we saw colorful flowers blooming. These are from a Lantana bush in Parque Morazán located in San Jose.

We saw Bougainvillea growing in many places. This photo was taken at the Wyndham Hotel in San Jose.

Hummingbirds were attracted to this emperor Cane flower at Dave and Dave’s Nature Park in La Virgen.

Many kinds of Ginger plants grow in Costa Rica. This one was photographed at the Rainforest Lodge in Sarapiquis.

We’ve grown Amaryllis in a pot here in Minnesota but in Costa Rica they are growing right outside in gardens.

Diana and I stayed 2 extra days in Costa Rica because our flight home was cancelled by a huge snowstorm that hit Minnesota. On one of those days, we visited Braulio Carrillo National Park. There, we took a tram ride that travelled through the tree tops. Our guide called this a “Hot Lips” flower. The “lips” are actually bracts. The flowers are white and grow out between the “lips.”

This stunning Peacock Flower was growing on the grounds at Hotel Punta Leona in Jaco. Our tour group stayed there for three nights.
