July 29, 2018 - Costa Rica - Orchids

Costa Rica is a tropical country and, as such, has the perfect climate for growing beautiful flowers. Here are a few of the orchid photos I took while we were there.

This photo was taken at the Arenal Volcano Observation Area in La Fortuna. Our guide told us it was called a One-day Orchid because each flower lasts only one day.

This orchid was seen at Dave and Dave’s Nature Park in La Virgen.

We stayed at the Hotel Wyndham in San Jose and they had orchids displayed in their lobby. This orchid and the next two were part of their collection.

Our tour group was treated to a great variety of shapes, sizes, and colors of orchids when we visited the Botanical Orchid Garden in La Garita. For over 30 years, the owner, Claudio Salas, has cultivated and planted orchids representing the tropical dry forest. All the rest of these photos were taken at this location. I don’t have names for these flowers, so I will just present the photos for you to enjoy.
