We’re back in Florida again, staying on St. George Island, where we have been coming for the last 18 years. One of the things I like about coming to Florida is seeing birds that are common here but rarely seen back home in Minnesota. This Northern Mockingbird was photographed at a park near the home we are renting.

Brown Pelicans are also very common here in Florida. The white feathers on its head and neck and the gray feathers on its wings indicate this is an adult.

I don’t know what kind of plant this is, but it made a striking image with its seeds backlit by the sun.

We arrived between Christmas and New Year’s Day and got to see some very interesting and creative Christmas decorations. This Christmas tree is made from a fishing net and decorated with fishing floats. It was located on the bank of the Apalachicola River.

When you don’t get actual snow, this is a very creative way to make a snowman. I especially like the palm frond arms.
