Feb. 18, 2018 - Wakulla Flowers

Last Friday I went to Wakulla Springs State Park which is south of Tallahassee. Bird photos were hard to come by, so I took pictures of flowers instead. This is an Azalea.

I found this grouping of Azaleas to be very attractive.

Bees were busily flying from flower to flower gathering nectar.

I’m not sure if this Camellia is considered a tree or a shrub but it was just loaded with blossoms. They generally don’t grow more than about 20 feet tall.

Here’s a close-up of some pink Camellia blossoms and a bud that hasn’t opened yet. This plant was identified as a Japanese Camellia.

There are many different Camellia varieties and they come in several colors. Here is a white one.

And here is a deep pink Camellia. I was also interested in seeing how the shape and arrangement of the petals is quite different from the Japanese variety.
