Nov. 5, 2017 - Oregon - Part 2 - Scenery
Read MoreI don’t take many scenery photos but the Oregon coast had some shots I couldn’t resist. This is the Coquille River Lighthouse, located in Bandon, Oregon. It was first commissioned in 1896 to mark the river entrance and harbor. Like most lighthouses in the United States, it is no longer used for navigation, but it has been restored and is now part of Bullards Beach State Park.
“Washed Ashore” is a non-profit organization based in Bandon, Oregon, and its mission is to make people aware of the threat of plastic debris that ends up in the world’s oceans. The members gather trash that is washed up on the shore and use it to make large sculptures like this one. These sculptures are exhibited around the country in places like the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago and the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. Check out their website and see more of these amazing sculptures at http://washedashore.org/ .
