June 5, 2016 - Red Fox Kits

Last week I made a photography and business trip to the North Shore. Paul Sundberg, a photographer friend of mine, told me where to find a den of Red Fox kits that he discovered. I found the location, parked along the road, and stayed in my car so I wouldn’t disturb the foxes. Finally, after about an hour and a half, one of the kits popped its head out of the hole.

Pretty soon there were two fox kits.

Then there were three.

Finally, all four of them appeared.

There was plenty of energetic play/fighting among the kits.

There were some tender moments, also.

Three holes in the hillside all seemed to be entrances to the same den. The fox kits would disappear down one hole and soon pop up out of a different hole.

Red foxes have black legs and a black tail with a white tip.

Who can resist a baby animal as cute as this one?
