Our area has an unusual visitor this spring. A male Garganey is being seen at Crex Meadows Wildlife Area near Grantsburg, Wisconsin. It’s normally found in Europe and Asia during the breeding season and in Africa and southern Asia during the winter. Some of them do get lost however. There are scattered reports of Garganey seen all across North America in the past, Minnesota even has two. One occurred in 1987 and the other in 1993. But this is the first sighting for Wisconsin.
