Fall migration is already underway and a flock of American White Pelicans made a stop at Lake Vadnais, located in the northern suburbs of St. Paul, MN. Most people associate pelicans with the seashore. Brown Pelicans do indeed stay on the coasts year round. White Pelicans are found along the Gulf Coast during the winter, but they come inland to breed. They seek out lakes in central Canada, north central U.S. (Montana, the Dakotas, and Minnesota) and some western states (Idaho, Oregon, northern California, and Nevada).
