Oct. 10, 2010 - Scenes Along The North Shore
Read MoreTettegouche State Park, located in Minnesota along the north shore of Lake Superior, had a rock arch that looked like the photo on the left. It now looks like the photo on the right. While no one has claimed that they actually saw the arch fall, the missing piece was first reported on Saturday, August 23, 2010. This is a popular and well-photographed landmark, so it must have fallen shortly before that day. The arch was apparently not vandalized; it just finally gave way after all the years of being buffeted by the wind and waves.
This little Maple tree shows the whole range of the fall color transformation. Some leaves are still totally green and others are fully turned to orange. I especially like the leaf that is near the center of the photo and just up from the bottom. It has some green, especially in the veins, and some orange highlights. This photo was also taken in Cook County but on CR 140.
