I found this Great Blue Heron along the St. George Island causeway. It caught an eel and was trying to eat it.
The eel was shaken back and forth and even dropped back into the water a few times.
Finally the heron got the eel into position and began to swallow it.
The Heron stood up very straight. That probably made it easier to swallow the eel. A couple of years ago I watched another Great Blue Heron eat a large snake. That didn’t go quite so easily.
